This item is temporarily out of stock until the artist will produce more. In the meantime, you might be interested in the Pumice Clay Tall Tea Refuse Jar.
Called shui fang in mandarin, these bowls are part of the ceremonial tea service and also part of every good family’s tea equipage. No one would want to be without one! They are an essential object and serves as a receptacle to all rejected liquids or discarded infused leaves when making tea. It holds a good 650 ml of liquid and much more in discarded leaves. This item is the work of Mr. Zhang, a young potter from Taichung who studied under Bai Zong-Ping and spent many years at Lin’s Ceramics beforehand. He now runs his own studio. We’ve been following him for the last 2 years and stockpiling some of his wares as we nurtured, not only a work relationship, but also a friendship with him. We are thrilled to release a good body of his work at once this Sept. and reveal a true talent in Taiwanese Tea Ceramics. This item is from a recent body of work we’ve commissioned exclusively for Taiwan Tea Crafts featuring the use of pumice enriched clay. The rustic texture of the pumice clay is as enjoyable to hold as it is beautiful to look at. A grey crackle glaze was added to the inside surface for ease of care. This shui fang will match any of the other items in Zhang’s Pumice Clay Series from cups, to pitchers, and even flower vases! This unique item is signed by the artist. Handmade in Taiwan.
