In our neighbourhood lives an old man with a treasure trove of old, authentic Yixing teapots he’s been collecting and selling as a Chinese Art Trader up to his retirement in the early 1990s. His pots were made between the 1950’s to the 1980’s with the bulk being from the 70’s and 80’s. We are privileged to have access to this veritable Alibaba’s cavern of teapots and make them accessible to you on Taiwan Tea Crafts. Each pot is unique and hand-crafted in the long tradition of Yixing pot making. Some already have a soul and have been seasoned. But all are looking for a good, deserving house to continue their destiny of making impeccable tea. All of this in the spirit of sharing the enjoyment of tea through timeless, beautifully crafted tea objects.
This very refined and superbly executed teapot is undoubtedly of high zhuni content. The dense material resonates with a clear high pitch tone and the surface shows the trademark light orange peel texture and shine. The shape is very well balanced. The handle is very comfortable and precise and the spout produces a very even arched flow that will colour any tea service with an air of elegance. We recommend this pot for twisted full leaf teas of the darker variety like Oriental beauties or black teas, aged or fresh. Exquisitely made.
