Shan Cha wild tea tree

And, here and there through the garden, thrones the father of all Taiwanese black tea cultivars: the wild indigenous Shan Cha, or mountain tea. Notice the size of the leaves! These bushes were not planted but found there when the forest was cleared to plant the tea garden.
