We are rather proud to propose this special Lot of a tea that has matured, like many of us, right on the premises we occupy. There is a row of large earthenware jars in a corner of the warehouse that get dusted-off periodically to review the markings on them and, if deemed worthy, opened for tasting. This tea is one of the pleasant surprises that came out from one of these warehouse rounds. The other one is here. Judging by the writing on the jar, this tea was put away by Mr. Chen himself in 2001. What we know is that it is a blend of Qing Xin tea of mostly high mountain origin. It is not uncommon for tea producers to blend some remnants of small lots for ageing. Judging by what is on our tasting table, this was not a bad batch at all! If you have enjoyed our very popular 1991 and 1993 Aged Oolongs, you will be in very familiar territory. The dried fruit notes with delicate winey complexities and supple, leathery aromas are quite alluring. It is very accessible to the palate and would make a good introductory tea if this is your first step with aged oolongs. This Lot has aged properly and doesn’t present any of the unpleasant sourness found in many badly aged teas but a slight tanginess that suggests that this tea can still continue to improve if allow to rest a little longer. It remains perfectly enjoyable to drink right now. We wouldn’t even present it if that was the case, especially that it comes from our family!

This is a pretty eye-opening tea. Not the flavor profiles I usually gravitate to in descriptions. But this is an explosion of dried fruit, ripe fruits, sandalwood and white florals. I’m definitely buying more of this! Nothing like it
Dried tea smells of raisins and dried plum. No must or stale smell
Rinse produces an explosive bouquet of unexpected fruit and floral notes. Ripe fruit. With an alluring top note of “incense” particularly light old world sandalwood .
The soup is fruity and full of complexity difficult to isolate. But it doesn’t matter, it’s just lovely and enjoyable.
As steeping continues fruit, body, and light wood notes continue to remain. And gracefully fade in time. I got at least 12 full bodied steeps before I lost count. Great tea!

The sweetest oolong i’ve had so far, and one of my favorites.
I’m not good at describing taste notes but the aroma feels complex and wonderful in every aspect, from its own nature/personality to how it makes you feel. It compliments the sweet honey taste perfectly which totally blew my mind.
This one put me to sleep but i couldn’t help to want more of it.
A truly unique tea to me

Brief steeps (few seconds) in 90 Celsius water.
Liquor is a clear pinkish light caramel in color.
Taste is predominantly fruity in aroma with a floral and woody notes in the honey-ish aftertaste.
Mouthfeel slightly sticky with a light-body infusion that has no astringency nor bitterness.
Wet leaves are dark olive green in hue, giving off steamed dried-fruits in aroma, similar to raisins, plums and prunes.
This tea withstands many infusions but flavor starts to mellow down by the 6th/7th infusion, thus best to do longer steeps at this stage.
