Classic lines inherited from centuries of teapot making tradition in China. A shape that has inspired all the different western interpretations of what is a teapot, and a good one for that matter. Our Classic Shui Ping Teapot is all of what is to be expected from a good tea making instrument in all situations, casual or fancier, and for any tea that the moment dictates. It gets re-interpreted here by Bai Mu Quan's workshop in a slightly larger 160 ml size than their other 140 ml rendering. Porcelain is the material used for its high density and good insulation qualities. It is moulded to ensure consistency and precision in shape. Nevertheless, this is far from being a mass-produced item as these pots are moulded one by one and corrected individually by an apprentice before being handed over to Master Quan for firing and glazing. A single coat ash glaze is featured in this series which delivers a vast array of terracotta shades over a greyish base. The satin mat feel of this glaze somewhat resembles the hues and textures obtained from wood firing at a fraction of the price!
