Charcoal Glazed Gourd Shaped Teapot, 160 ml
This 160 ml pot features a classic gourd shape that is very often considered an ideal design for exploring the darker shades of baked and fired oolongs like Dong Ding, Hong Shui and Gui Fei teas, fresh or aged, not to mention Pu’er and Hei Cha. The generous body of this pot with thicker walls and a relatively smaller lid opening will help extract all the layered nuances in well-finished teas, like the ones you will find here. The handle is finely shaped from a tapered arc and offers a secure hold close to the body. The short spout pours in an elegant arc but generously enough for use with pitchers. The lid features a generous stubby knob that complements the looks of this pot and is quite practical to avoid burning your fingers. Taiwanese Yellow Clay is the material used for its good insulation qualities. Like many items from Bai Mu Quan, this pot is moulded to ensure consistency and precision in shape. Nevertheless, this is far from being a mass-produced item as these pots are moulded one by one and corrected individually by an apprentice before being handed over to Master Quan for firing and glazing. A single coat charcoal glaze is featured in this series which delivers a beautiful mat charcoal finish that pairs with any other tea ware item you may have. The satin mat feel of this glaze somewhat resembles the hues and textures obtained from wood firing at a fraction of the price! Like all the work featured in our handcrafted section, each item is made one by one and is signed by the artist. Handmade in Taiwan.
