Da Bai's Red Flare Sand Mist Tea Pitcher, 200 ml
This unique handmade porcelain tea pitcher was made alongside the Red Flare Sand Mist Kyusu Teapot and meant to be its inseparable companion. All elements complement each other in style and colour. It is the work of Da Bai, the eldest sibling of the Bai Mu Quan family and, you will have guessed, the older brother of Xiao Bai that we feature extensively on Taiwan Tea Crafts. We are happy to finally give him more space on our site through the release of many items that were produced during the pandemic. There’s definitely a family style that is recognizable between the 2 brothers as well as a high level of precision in their craftsmanship which is simply stunning. Da Bai’s use of different textures and tonal experimentations in his glazings are both appropriate to the shape of the piece and gives an added texture in the tone of the finish. This being said, this pot marks a departure from the elaborate glazings he expertly crafts and plays more with simple geometrical shapes and adds contrasts with selectively glazed elements and colour spots. This is truly exemplified by this fine piece of work. The wall thickness is thin and even all throughout the body making it extremely lightweight. The finish of the pitcher is left bare inside and out leaving the very fine grit of the yellow clay used (with a touch of porcelain added in for density) show its smooth and even texture all throughout. A contrasting red spot adorns its base which ties in with the look of the matching Kyusu Teapot and cups. This unique item is signed by the artist and proudly handcrafted in Taiwan.
