These handmade porcelain tea tasting cups were made and glazed alongside the Sand Mist Fluted Yuan Zhu Teapot and its matching Pitcher that completes the set. They are the work of Da Bai, the eldest sibling of the Bai Mu Quan family. This young potter, despite his relatively short tenure behind a potter’s wheel, has quickly mastered his craft with works of great sensibility in style and form whilst never compromising on function. Like Xiao Bai, his younger brother whose work is also featured on Taiwan Tea Crafts, both show the same uncompromising quality and precision in their workmanship. The wall thickness is thin and even all throughout the body to allow the tea to cool quickly after pouring. The finish of the cups is white glazed inside and featured a fine fluted texture o the outside which received a mat sand mist glaze. The gentle flute not only adds to the classic elegance of the cup but helps prevent slippage and isolate the fingers from the heat.
