This unique handmade porcelain tea pitcher was made alongside the Sand Mist Fluted Yuan Zhu Teapot and is meant to become its perfect companion. All elements complement each other in style and colour. Its classic design is re-interpreted by the artistry of Da Bai, the eldest sibling of the Bai Mu Quan family. This young potter, despite his relatively short tenure behind a potter’s wheel, has quickly mastered his craft with works of great sensibility in style and form whilst never compromising on function. Just like Xiao Bai, his younger whose work is also featured on Taiwan Tea Crafts, he has chosen porcelain as his material of choice. Both show the same uncompromising quality and precision in their workmanship which is stunning considering the challenges of working with porcelain as his main material. Where Da Bai differs is in his choice of classic shapes over more modern ones and in the simple elegance of more subdued finishes while still remaining balanced and ergonomically perfect. Da Bai’s use of different textures, like in the gently fluted outer-surface of this pitcher’s body, is used in a subtle way that is both appropriate to the shape of the piece and gives an added texture in the tone of the finish. The execution is flawless as can be expected from the Bai brothers. The wall thickness is thin and even all throughout the body. A white glaze was applied to the inside surface. This pitcher, like all of the other Fluted Sand Mist items we propose, is an example of a perfectly mastered technique. What you see in the pictures is what you will get. This unique item is signed by the artist and proudly handcrafted in Taiwan.
