Handmade Stackable Travel Tea Set for Two in White Porcelain
This beautiful handmade travel set is a project that was discussed many years ago with Xiao Bai, the youngest potter of the Bai Mu Quan clan. This young potter, despite his relatively short tenure behind a potter's wheel, has quickly mastered his craft with works of great sensibility in style and form whilst never compromising on function. The time to finally make this project happen suddenly freed itself thanks to a world-wide pandemic. We've always liked stackable solutions when it comes to travel sets as they offer the smallest volumetric footprint possible. We also believe that stacking elements inside each other makes them less prone to breakage (if protective material is inserted between each element), especially if made from the finest grade porcelain. This stunningly light weight set (165 g) comprises a 60 ml gaiwan and pitcher and two 35 ml cups. The series features fluted outer walls on all the elements of the set. The precision in Xiao Bai's craftsmanship is simply stunning considering the challenges of working with porcelain as his main material of choice. This is exemplified by the ultra thin wall thickness that is even all throughout the cup and lid with a gentle taper towards the flared lip. The inner surface of the bowl features a mirror white glazed finish. The lid sits snugly without any wobble on a lip set on the inner surface of the wall. This helps stabilize the vessel while pouring as the lid will not slip from its seat. This unique set is also offered in other colours that you will see below.
