Li Xing Red Clay Teapot, 160 ml
Li Xing, or pear-shaped teapots, are one of the most popular teapot shapes, especially with western tea amateurs. Oddly, they are not as popular here, so we were very pleased to finally find a source that could supply such pots at just the right size. This new addition to our selection of cast clay is made by a new collaborator established near Yingge; the historical hub of all ceramic industries in Taiwan. This small family workshop has been making clay wares since many generations. This 160 ml size is quite versatile as it can be used for solo introspection or small group tastings. The 16 seconds pour out is precise and follows a beautiful fine arc. Like all the items that comprise our new series of Taiwanese made clay ware, they are impeccably made with very precise tolerances and great precision in the hand finishing. The walls are thin and even; the spout and handle are straight and perfectly aligned; finally, the clay used is tested to be free of heavy metals and contaminants. Not only is this a good introductory pot into the world of unglazed clay ware but, first and foremost, it is a good quality teapot that will be sure to render years of good service at a fraction of the cost of similar quality authentic Yixing ware. Made in Taiwan.
