If you look closely (see pictures) you will notice a very different dish design on this one: it is wider, deeper with a highly curved edge. This is to allow the fingers of the user to slide in easily underneath. The lid has also a lower curvature helping to lower the height of the unit. All these features are intended for people that like to handle their gaiwan while clasping it in their hand with the dish on the fingers and the thumb holding the lid. If you are more of the “holding by the rim” style, we recommend the Classic Gaiwan. Needless to say, this design is very well made and ergonomically correct.
