This tea pitcher is one of the many that we’ve stockpiled from several productions we sponsored in support of Mr. Zhang’s work during the slowdown caused by the pandemic. The local market for art and crafts came to halt and many artists and artisans suffered during that period and still do as we very slowly resurface at the other end of the ordeal. On a more positive note, this gave us an opportunity to work more closely with many of our collaborators and some, like Mr. Zhang, executed some of their best work as exemplified by this piece. This handleless pitcher design is common and sought after here in Taiwan for its fluid lines that match any style of teapot. This pitcher will match any of the other items in Zhang's Wood-Fired Series but it will particularly pair well with teapots that were fired alongside it in our Copper Mist or Red Flare Series like the 165 ml Wood-Fired Copper Mist Teapot we propose as a perfect match below. The swirl motif that adorns the circumference of the pitcher is both decorative and functional as it slightly insulate the fingers and helps in better griping it. This motif is also found on some wood-fired cups that would pair beautifully with this pitcher. Beautiful hues of copper, and predominant red mists shroud a good part of the circumference of the pitcher. These are purely accidental and the result of elements fusing during the firing process.
