Finally! One of our most popular Gongfu teapots is back and sports a new name. Míngyuè 明月stands for moon as the round shape in this milky ivory white evokes a bright full moon. You simply can’t go wrong with a near perfectly round teapot. It will handle all teas and make good infusions of every leaf you feed it. The 150 ml format is probably one of the most versatile as it will suit solo seances as well as handle smaller groups. It pours very well and is perfectly balanced. A real pleasure to work with. We simply have nothing but praise towards porcelain as a tea making material and praise as well towards the excellent styling and craftsmanship behind every item of our Ivory Porcelain series. Porcelain is lightweight, hard wearing (despite common misconceptions), offers precise tolerances and great precision in the finished products, if they are well made, of course. It is a perfectly neutral material as opposed to unfinished clays that colour the taste of the tea. When making fragrant teas like high mountain oolongs, porcelain acts like a mirror to reflect all of the aromas and taste out of the leaves. It is our experience that porcelain gives the best results and are often found in the equipage of experienced tea masters. Handcrafted in Taiwan.

This is the best porcelain teapot I have ever purchased. The glaze is beautifully shiny and flawless, the weight of the pot is substantial, and the high pitched sound that comes from tapping the pot shows it was fired in high temperatures. All of these traits are still secondary to the fact that this teapot makes the best version of any tea even more than gaiwans. I highly recommend this teapot!

I’m beyond delighted with this beautiful little pot. The shape and balance is perfect, with a lovely feel in the hand and a smoothly elegant pour, while the lid is tight enough to seal completely when a finger is applied to the hole in the top. The glaze is perfectly executed as well and, as the previous reviewer notes, the teapot rings nicely when pinged indicating the exemplary quality of material. I purchased it along with the 160 ml Solo teacup, and it sits in the rim snugly to make for a very satisfying set. All in all a delight to behold and handle, and brews anything thrown at it to perfection. A wonderful brewing tool, and I can’t praise it enough. Now all I need is a matching tea boat… 😉
