Our Bai Lu T-17 Green Tea is back in 2020 with an earlier picking in the first week of March – the very first one of the year for this organic tea garden – earning it a “Primeur” qualifier. This unique green tea shows all the vigor of the promising early spring tea season we’ve had this year, despite its relative dryness. No need to worry here as this garden is irigated with a watering system. Made from the T-17 Bai Lu cultivar, which is also used for making Oriental Beauty teas because of its generous buds, this tea proposes a nice tangy citrus freshness in the cup with lingering exotic fruit notes. Smooth and round with pastoral accents, this tea is a great thirst quencher. A very rewarding sip, and very different from Chinese green teas, this tea is definitely a must try. Following in the spirit of the previous year’s iterations, this spring’s Lot 909 goes one step further in our objective of redefining the boundaries of what is conventionally expected of Taiwanese teas. Working with organically-farmed leaves sourced from a long-time collaborator and inspired by her father’s legacy of producing unique organic green teas from Taiwanese cultivars in China, our Head Tea Maker has created a unique series of green and white teas we are proud to call Fragrant Jade, in memory of her late father. This tea and the others in this series are exclusively offered on Taiwan Tea Crafts!

This is a fantastic green tea. It has a deep, nutty and full-bodied flavour. I brew my tea very strong, and while this tea will develop a nice bite and ‘nong cha’ bitterness, it is never astringent or wearing on the mouth. I have paid three times this amount for mediocre Long Jin tea that does not come close to the freshness and quality of this Bai Lu.
