Organic Jade (Cui Yu T-13) Green Tea
Followers of Taiwan Tea Crafts would easily detect that we have a particular fondness towards the Cui Yu T-13 cultivar. In fact, this common passion is an element that prompted Yuwen, our tea maker, and this writer to trigger an interest to explore more common interest in tea, and life in general. In the case of Yuwen, this fondness is directly linked to her father's passion for the cultivar that has blossomed through many forms including secret family “recipes” for its use that are since championed by his daughter. One of these is to make green tea from it. Thanks to the help of Mr. Zhang, our collaborator behind the fabulous Organic Cui-YU T-13 Oolong Tea, for a sixth consecutive year, we've been able to keep the spirit of Yuwen's father alive with this Lot 1246. If you liked our previous iterations, you will be in familiar territory with its light almond-like sweet roasted accents, a good vegetal body with hints of creamy artichoke, and the flowery and balsam freshness of High Mountain Oolongs. Lot 1246 also benefits from the juvenile vigor of a summer fine picking of young shoots taken from very young bushes from a a new section in Mr. Zhangs garden. Every time we have an opportunity to produce this tea it garners the same reaction from Yuwen: ”I can taste my father's tea in this cup!” she says. In homage to her late father, a true pioneer in organic tea making, we have named this tea series ”Fragrant Jade” similarly to his line of teas we promoted several years ago. This tea is produced exclusively for us under our supervision and available only on Taiwan Tea Crafts in very low quantities!
