In our quest to expand our range of organic teas, high-mountain terroirs are a bit more of challenge as few high-mountain growers venture down that path. We've always struggled when seeking high-mountain offerings, especially good ones – until we've found this grower/producer's offerings! This is our fifth year working with this family and we look forward to many years of collaboration as the quality of the leaf material, as well as the processing of it into tea, is of first grade. This tea is our best value in organic high-mountain teas. This Jin Xuan varietal tea from Meishan comes from a well-established growing area which was one of the first to grow higher mountain teas in central Taiwan, before Shanlinxi and Alishan became references. This terroir in Yunlin County is particularly deserving of a closer attention. Jin Xuan fares particularly well in these beautiful mid-range hills and this tea is a very good example of how this strand has contributed to the characteristic high mountain oolong taste. It has the typical green, crisp pastoral notes with hints of mountain flowers that charms the nose. The palate will immediately be pleased by the ample creamy texture and taste that evokes fresh buttered green beans with hints of sweetness. All in all, it is a very satisfying cup that bears the characteristic generous qualities of high mountain teas at a very affordable price.
