We usually make this tea in small batches from the very first springtime sprouts of T-18 Hong Yu bushes. Our last Lot 1103 these sold out quite quickly. Waiting until next spring for the next one was already painful for us who love this tea in the afternoon. An opportunity presented itself to purchase some leaves from a small organic section from one of our favourite producers. Made from the Hong Yu T-18 from which the renowned Red Jade black tea is made from, this tea is a true home-made and hand-made project as none of these leaves have encountered any form of machinery in the making of it. The picking was particularly fine and consists of very young leaves with a generous content of buds. These young pickings were hand-picked, gently laid to wither, hand-fluffed to stimulate oxydation and desiccated to lock-in their lush fragrance. If you are familiar with Red Jade Black Tea you will be pleasantly surprised by the striking resemblence in the aromatics of this tea. The fresh eucalyptus, cinnamon and camphor-like coolness is truly heady. The liqueur is sweet, thick and smooth, much like a Chinese Shou Mei white tea but with the added aromatic complexity only a Taiwanese tea can deliver. A truly pleasant in-house project that we are proud to propose exclusively to our Taiwan Tea Crafts clientele. Get some while it last as this special Fall 2023 Lot 1253 generate much less tea than our previous Lot 1103. Lot 1253 is a generous tea which can be both enjoyed hot or cold. It will reveal its full spectrum in a gaiwan through multiple infusions. This tea is very bulky when carefully packed so as to not crush the beautiful full leaves. This is why it is exceptionally offered in smaller size sealed bags of 15g, or 5g only. It is very limited and made available exclusively on Taiwan Tea Crafts, until it lasts, like all ephemeral pleasures.

This tea is like nothing I have ever had. Truly unique and inspiring floral composition, with a red tea body. What the description describes as “ eucalyptus, cinnamon and camphor-like coolness” is simply wintergreen, yes wintergreen. A compound I’ve yet to find in a white tea and frankly didn’t know could be presented. The cost, elegance, and subtlety of this tea make it a steal. Definitely ordering more

Brief steeps (few seconds) in 90 degree Celsius water.
Liquor is clear with amber color in look.
Taste has notes of sweet spice with a floral long aftertaste and hints of astringency.
Mouthfeel is lightly sticky with a pleasant cooling feel all around.
Wet leaves are a mix of bronze and pale olive green in hues, giving off a light sugary aroma.
This tea withstands many infusions but the intensity of the flavor starts to mellow down by the 7th/8th infusion, thus best to increase the steeping time from here onwards.

Very tasty tea with some uncrushed leaves inside.
