Qinghua Ru Glaze Teapot, 170 ml
Another classic Chinese teapot shape gets re-interpreted by the artistry of Bai Mu Quan that will fare very well with baked teas, darker oolongs, and aged teas for a mellow and complex infusion. The body is made from more porous clay and features thicker walls which will insulate better and help bring out all the material in the tea. This Qinghua series features a classic Ru Glaze with its characteristic cloudy qing 青 colour (not blue, not green, but subtly both in a greyish base). This glaze that originated during the Northern Song dynasty at the turn of the 12th century is very popular in Taiwan. Here, it is executed to perfection with an added blue motif. This item is moulded to ensure consistency and precision in shape. Nevertheless, this is far from being a mass-produced item as these pots are moulded one by one and corrected individually by an apprentice before being handed over to Master Quan for firing and glazing. Like all the work featured in our Handcrafted section, each item is made one by one and is signed and dated by the artist. Handmade in Taiwan.
