Vintage Red Clay Low Tea Pitcher, 140 ml
When we stumbled on the last remaining boxes of this pitcher design we were immediately intrigued by its very low profile and were first attracted to it from an aesthetic point of view. After dusting it off and putting it through a few seances, we are now also very pleased with its ergonomics and good pour qualities. This design dates from 1980's and proposes a very practical 140 ml volume that will accommodate all of the smaller pots in our red clay series or any of your treasured pots. We qualify the final lot of these pitchers as vintage since they are devoid of kaolinite. The use of kaolin (the main constituent of porcelain) in this workshop was introduced in the 1990's in the the clay mixture they use to make their clay tea ware. The outer surface of the pitchers is rougher, more porous, and they are lighter in weight and in their shade of colour. This being said, we are not implying that these are superior to the more recent production of the workshop. Their high standards of workmanship were as true then as they are today. These last items from this design are simply beautifully made. We are making them available to you at the same price as the current production and leave it up to you to determine if there is a detectable difference. Either way, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter! Handcrafted in Taiwan.
