This is another fine piece from Zhilong’s offerings, who is also responsible for our other weathered tea dust glazed items. His work is fine and precise and he masters the skill of making smaller objects that are particularly well suited for Taiwanese tea preparation. This larger pot features many aspects of Zhilong's skill. The pot is hand-turned in Taiwanese yellow clay to a volume of 200 ml making it a fine choice for dong ding oolong or any other darker tea. The shape and execution are flawless right down to the fit of the lid, as well as and the neat 10-hole convex filter on the inside of the body. The proportions are balanced and the ergonomics are carefully thought out, particularly in the shape and detailing of the handle. Finally, the finishing is certainly one of its main attractive features. The two-tone tea dust glaze, or Chayemo Glaze, of mustard yellow speckle over a predominant black base has been selectively brushed off in some areas giving the pot an attractive weathered look and even reveals a nice frise on the crown of its main body.
