Wood-Fired Copper Mist Tea Urn, 300 ml
This beautiful wood-fired urn cam out of a firing performed in late August 2020 along with several other items proposing the same golden and bronze hues that make it so attractive. This item is the work of Mr. Zhang, a young potter who studied under Bai Zong-Ping and spent many years at Lin's Ceramics. He now runs his own studio and is off to a promising career. This urn also has a little story behind it: As Mr. Zhang was busy preparing as many wares as he could before the firing date, he injured one of his hands. This meant that he could not complete many of the teapots on time. Picture this bigger urn with a handle and spout and you understand that this piece is in fact one of these unfinished teapot bodies. As with all of Mr. Zhang's work the execution is flawless: the seat and seal of the lid is flawless helping to keep up to approximately 150 g of rolled oolong. Finally, the shades of this urn are the result of the high temperatures achieved during the firing process and features nice glossy golden patches here and there. The pot also adorns a beautiful wave-like pattern all around its body and a uniform lustrous sheen. These aesthetic characteristics are purely accidental and the result of elements fusing during the firing process. Needless to say, this item is unique. What you see in the pictures is what you will get. Handmade in Taiwan.
