Classic lines inherited from centuries of teapot making tradition in China. A shape that has inspired all the different western interpretations of what is a teapot, and a good one for that matter. Our Classic Teapot is all of what is to be expected from a good tea making instrument in all situations, casual or fancier, and for any tea that the moment dictates. We simply have nothing but praise regarding porcelain as a tea making material and praise as well towards the excellent styling and craftsmanship behind every item of our Ivory Porcelain series. Porcelain is lightweight, hard wearing (despite common misconceptions), offers precise tolerances and great precision in the finished products, if they are well made, of course. It is a perfectly neutral material as opposed to unfinished clays that colour the taste of the tea. When making fragrant teas like high mountain oolongs, porcelain acts like a mirror to reflect all of the aromas and taste out of the leaves. It is our experience that porcelain gives the best results and are often found in the equipage of experienced tea masters. Handcrafted in Taiwan.
This teapot is also available in 125 ml and 160 ml sizes.

It’s surprisingly difficult to find a single cup Western style teapot, much less a quality porcelain one. Usually the smallest you will find are two cup pots where, while you are drinking your first cup, the tea leaves sit in the pot over-brewing. When I don’t have time for a multi-brew gong fu session or only want a full mug of perfectly brewed tea, this is my new “go to” teapot. It may not have been conceived for that purpose but it will perfectly brew 8 oz of any kind of tea and if I decide that I want a second cup, I can just put in a fresh new ration of leaves and hot water. Being porcelain, the taste of every kind of tea comes out exactly the way it should. (Of course this pot will also work in a gong fu session for multiple tea drinkers.)
